Overview

Technician Level III must assemble, align, test, and calibrate electro- and/or opto-mechanical subassemblies and instruments.  Assemble intricate electro- and/or opto-mechanical assemblies with precision tools and fixturing.  Integrate the electro- and/or opto-mechanical components and assemblies with state-of-the-art computers to perform the final system qualification and inspection.  Troubleshoot subassemblies, finished units, and/or production opto-mechanical assemblies and repair as necessary, all under the direction of the Production Manager.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Perform assembly operations on opto-mechanical parts
  • Package assemblies and subassemblies
  • Troubleshoot Simple and Complex Builds
  • Troubleshoot test beds
  • Train and assist others on Tech I & II skills, as required
  • Train others on equipment operation and manufacturing concepts
  • Perform visual inspections for obvious damage or defects
  • Assist Machine Shop with design and fabrication of Assembly fixtures & tools
  • Assist Project Management/Engineering with prototypes; provide feedback of designs and ways to improve
  • Assist in writing work instructions and procedures
  • Lead LEAN & 5S initiatives
  • Perform light housekeeping to keep work area clean and organized according to our 5s program
  • Assist in creation/updating of Control Plans and Inspection Plans
  • Timeliness and regular attendance are required
  • Must be willing to work overtime as required
  • Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures and regulations

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Optics Handling Certification (within a reasonable time of start date)
  • Read and understand complex assembly drawings, blue prints, production orders and work instructions
  • Understand quality protocols (in-process and final inspection)
  • Strong mechanical background
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to apply learned concepts/skills to new projects
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications especially Word and Excel

 

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent; minimum of four (4) years related prior work experience.

 

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 40 pounds; occasional bending and lifting; ability to stand for long periods of time; work in warehouse environment; may be required to use a ladder to organize or obtain supplies; may be required to use shop and power tools to modify parts or equipment.
