Overview

An Assembly Technician II must utilize work instructions, blue prints, and spec sheets to assemble and package opto-mechanical products for stock and shipment under the direction of the Assembly Manager or Group Leader.

Responsibilities

 

  • Assist in Assembler tasks as required including but not limited to the following: Assembly of simple and complex systems containing mechanical components, opto-mechanical components, and electro-optical-mechanical components, Engraving, Inking, Visual Inspection, and Packaging of final products with minimal direction or supervision.
  • Troubleshoot and repair of simple assemblies.
  • Assist and participate in the design of tooling and fixturing for production.
  • Provide input to assist in the pre-determination of standard production rates
  • Follow written and verbal procedures and recommend changes or corrections to issues within the procedure as needed.
  • Understand quality protocols.
  • Maintain detailed record of work completed.
  • Use of simple and complex imaging setups to verify performance of sub-assemblies and finished units.
  • Participate in LEAN and 5S+Safety initiatives including light housekeeping of work areas
  • Maintain control of material in assigned work orders.
  • Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations.
  • Functions with minimal direction/supervision according to build schedule.
  • Perform other similar and related duties as assigned.
  • Timeliness and regular attendance are required
  • Must be willing to work overtime as required
  • Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures and regulations

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of analog and digital electronics, electrical schematics, measuring instruments, optomechanical or electro-mechanical troubleshooting techniques.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use hand tools and bench tools.
  • Ability to use or learn to use a microscope for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to sit at a workstation for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work within a clean room and/or a flow booth for extended periods of time.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Intermediate computer knowledge.
  • Knowledge of basic optical and/or mechanical principles
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • U.S. Citizenship or permanent residence required

 Education/Experience:

Associates Degree in a related technical or equivalent; machinist background a plus; mechanical or optical assembly experience preferred; 7 + years of industry experience.

 

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; occasional bending and lifting; ability to stand for long periods of time; work in warehouse environment; may be required to use a ladder to organize or obtain supplies; may be required to use shop and power tools to modify parts or equipment.  Edmund Optics shall, in its discretion, modify or adjust the position to meet the company’s changing needs.

Compensation Range Transparency:

At Edmund Optics, we are committed to transparency and equity in our hiring practices. The posted salary range for this role reflects the expected base pay. The actual offer will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to relevant skills, education, work experience, business needs, and geographic location.

 

Salary Range:
$21.00-$23.50 per hour
