Overview

Production Control Supervisor holds same duties as the production planner & scheduler with higher responsibility and focus on the execution, follow-up, and communication with production managers, team members, and sales representatives. Establish and coordinate the production schedules between different areas of the factory. Ensures the right flow of materials and parts. Supervise and coach other production control team members. Collaborate with other supervisors and functional areas to improve the overall factory performance.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises production control team members’ work, training and coaching them as needed.
  • Plans and oversees factory’s master production schedules to meet our committed dates. Minimizes raw material, WIP, and Finished Goods inventory levels.
  • Responsible of daily production follows-up to achieve factory’s KPIs like OTD. Close report with Production Supervisors to solve daily manufacturing and logistic issues.
  • Generates production and scheduling reports as needed to support management decisions and projects.
  • Accountable and responsible for planning and purchasing raw materials, semi-finished goods, and subcontracting activities with suppliers.
  • Contributes to the correct and smooth material flow between other functional areas like receiving, warehouse and quality, and leads actions to solve any disruption.
  • Collaborates with Product Line Managers and Solutions Engineers to introduce new products in the factory.
  • Support manufacturing RFQ activity as needed.
  • Other tasks, assignments and projects as required.
  • Perform light housekeeping to keep work area clean and organized according to our 6s program
  • Special projects as required
  • Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Outstanding communication and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
  • Strong knowledge in advanced planning and procurement processes
  • Strong analytical skills to read and use MRP – Good knowledge of SAP preferable
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Costing analysis skills to support quotes, projects, and decision-making
  • Good organization and problem-solving skills with knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
  • Fluent in MS Office and proficiency with Excel spreadsheets and pivot tables
  • Autonomous, accountable, and willing to learn and expand their knowledge and influence
  • U.S. Citizenship or permanent residence required

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Business or Supply Chain preferable), or 10-15 years’ combination of relevant experience spanning: Technology sales, manufacturing, planning and scheduling operations.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain management and manufacturing principles.
  • 2-4 years of experience as a Supervisor/Coach is required

 

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit and look at screens for long period of times. Able to walk, stand up and claim a ladder as needed.

Work in manufacturing environments with ability to lift 20 lbs

Compensation Range Transparency:

At Edmund Optics, we are committed to transparency and equity in our hiring practices. The posted salary range for this role reflects the expected base pay. The actual offer will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to relevant skills, education, work experience, business needs, and geographic location.

Salary Range:
$76,000 – $82,000 per year
