Overview

The Assembly Supervisor is responsible for the performance of the Assembly department.  The Assembly Supervisor works closely with Production Control in managing the daily workload and oversees all aspects of the department. 

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations of the Assembly Department
  • Assist Operations Manager in recruiting and retention of team members
  • Conduct personnel performance reviews for all team members
  • Coordinate/lead training for new standards and methods
  • Assist in developing new assembly processes
  • Specify and design tools, jigs and fixtures
  • Assist in developing/specify technology and equipment to help reduce overall cost
  • Assist in establishing standard times and ensure accuracy of material routings
  • Assist in finalizing pre-production schedules to help optimize productivity and on-time delivery
  • Document assembly procedures, operational work instructions and process control sheets
  • Interface with R&D in the development of new products and technology
  • Determine cost effective improvements and modifications to manufacturing processes and raw material
  • Lead efforts to improve product quality and consistency
  • Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures and regulations

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of LEAN practices, 6S and Six Sigma
  • Great organizational skills, detail oriented and decisive
  • Basic mechanical skills
  • Ability to set the direction for the group to help meet established goals
  • Capable of staffing, structuring, and maintaining a highly effective team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates ability to clearly communicate objectives and disseminate information relative to meeting departmental goals
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to utilize general office equipment with limited instructions including photocopier, fax machine, etc.
  • U.S. Citizenship or permanent residence required

Education/Experience

B.S. Manufacturing Engineering discipline, with two (2) to five (5) years’ experience; A.A.S. Manufacturing Discipline, with five (5) to ten (10) years or an equivalent combination of education and work history

 

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 30 pounds; occasional bending and lifting; ability to stand for long periods of time; work in warehouse environment; may be required to use a ladder to obtain supplies or examine equipment; may be required to use shop and power tools to modify parts or equipment.

Compensation Range Transparency:

At Edmund Optics, we are committed to transparency and equity in our hiring practices. The posted salary range for this role reflects the expected base pay. The actual offer will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to relevant skills, education, work experience, business needs, and geographic location.

 

Salary Range:
$76,000 – $82,000 per year
