Overview

The Director of Marketing is a dynamic and strategic leader who transforms ideas into action and vision into measurable results. This role is responsible for driving impactful marketing programs that strengthen Edmund Optics’ brand, generate high-quality leads, and amplify our presence across global markets. Working hand-in-hand with Business Line teams, Marketplace Marketing, and the Executive Team, the Director ensures that every initiative, from digital campaigns and corporate communications to trade shows and customer engagement events—directly supports our business growth objectives. This individual is not only a strategist but also an executor, accountable for delivering on commitments with precision, creativity, and urgency. The ideal candidate will inspire collaboration, elevate marketing performance, and champion a culture of innovation and excellence that keeps Edmund Optics at the forefront of the optics and photonics industry.

Responsibilities

Corporate Communication & Branding

  • Oversee all corporate communications, including public relations, executive messaging, internal communications, and media engagement.
  • Shape and strengthen the company’s global brand identity, ensuring consistency and differentiation across all channels.
  • Lead storytelling initiatives that elevate the company’s technical leadership and value to customers and partners.

Strategic Leadership & Collaboration

  • Develop and execute the divisional marketing strategy aligned with corporate vision and growth objectives.
  • Partner with Business Line and Sales leaders to define and execute annual marketing plans that support revenue and product goals.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, providing insights on market trends, competitive positioning, and customer engagement.
  • Foster strong collaboration across Sales, Engineering, and Product Management to ensure unified go-to-market execution.

Demand Generation & Digital Strategy

  • Lead the creation and execution of targeted digital campaigns that generate qualified leads and support account-based marketing objectives.
  • Manage divisional marketing automation, SEO/SEM, and analytics platforms to ensure measurable results.
  • Partner with Sales Operations and Business Lines to drive pipeline growth through integrated marketing programs.

Events, Trade Shows & Industry Engagement

  • Direct and execute global event strategy, including major trade shows, technical webinars, and VIP customer events.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver product launches, technology showcases, and thought-leadership forums that strengthen market presence.
  • Ensure consistent, high-impact event experiences that enhance customer relationships and brand credibility.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing global marketing team with clear accountability and growth opportunities.
  • Cultivate a collaborative, performance-driven culture focused on creativity, innovation, and measurable outcomes.
  • Manage marketing budgets, agencies, and vendor relationships for maximum efficiency and effectiveness.

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Proven strategic marketing leader with expertise in B2B technology or industrial markets, ideally within optics, photonics, or precision manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of brand positioning, digital marketing, lead generation, and market development.
  • Exceptional communication skills—able to craft clear, compelling messages for technical and executive audiences.
  • Demonstrated success in managing multi-channel campaigns that deliver measurable revenue impact.
  • Strong analytical mindset; adept at using data to drive decisions and optimize programs.
  • Collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Experienced in managing global teams and agency partners across multiple regions and time zones.
  • Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred; 10 + years of progressive B2B marketing experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role. Experience managing global marketing operations, budgets, and cross-functional initiatives.

 

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of working at a computer and attending meetings virtually and in person. Occasional travel (10-20%) to company sites, customer locations, tradeshows, and industry events.

Compensation Range Transparency:

At Edmund Optics, we are committed to transparency and equity in our hiring practices. The posted salary range for this role reflects the expected base pay. The actual offer will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to relevant skills, education, work experience, business needs, and geographic location.

 

Salary Range:
$120,000 – $140,000 per year
